Zainab: "I wanted to take a chance on something everyone around me advised me not to do"
"Hello my name is Zainab. I visit the VHS Bochum, because I wanted to catch up on my degree. I wanted to take a chance on something everyone around me advised me not to do. Everyone told me it was going to be too difficult and fast for me, but this was more of an incentive for me.
Then one teacher told me about the VHS Bochum, a “school for adults” which was nearby.
My ambition to learn has made me have good grades. Meanwhile, I have my first graduation and I already started in the summer with my next course. My time here at the VHS was an eye-opener for me, that I can be here and can achieve more than what other people thought.
Through the support of my teachers at the VHS and especially through a big project we worked on together, I now see the world with different, more open, eyes."
